Walk to Read
The Southbridge Public Schools Walk to Read program is designed to promote literacy by helping students learn to read at their own pace, instilling core competencies and increasing students’ confidence and motivation to read.
The Walk to Read program is a tiered intervention given to students at West Street School and Charlton Street School, that targets specific areas of competency and fluency.
Students take part in instruction and discussion that help them develop skills ranging from decoding words to reading speed and comprehension, working in classroom settings with students from their own grade and at similar literacy levels.
