Southbridge Middle School is home to exceptional, high-achieving students who consistently push the boundaries of academic and personal excellence. The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) Southbridge STARR Chapter recognizes these outstanding young leaders by offering membership into this prestigious national organization. This premier distinction celebrates students who excel far beyond standard expectations.

Eligibility & Application Baseline

This honor is earned by our most dedicated learners.

  • Eligible Grades: Open to scholars in grades 6–8.
  • Academic Benchmark: Must hold a cumulative GPA of 3.0+ on a 4.0 scale.
  • Spring Invitation: Eligible students receive an invitation to apply each Spring.
  • Application Packet: Candidates submit a detailed profile highlighting their leadership and service.

 

Evaluation & Induction Process

A rigorous review process ensures that every member truly represents the STARR chapter's elite standards.

  • Faculty Review: A five-member principal-appointed council reviews all packages.
  • Character Audit: The council cross-checks application details with official school disciplinary records.
  • Majority Vote: Official selection requires a majority vote from the council.
  • Quick Turnaround: Candidates receive results within one month of submission.
  • Celebration: Accepted students are formally honored at an induction ceremony.
  • Ongoing Excellence: Members must maintain or exceed these high standards post-induction.
