Read on for important updates on bus routes for summer programs at our elementary schools.
Families of elementary students enrolled in Southbridge Public Schools summer programs are invited to a parent luncheon Wednesday, July 3rd at West Street Elementary School, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. The luncheon will provide families with an opportunity to connect with staff from the summer programs at Eastford Road School and West Street Elementary schools and ask questions or share ideas.
In the first week of summer programming, district staff and parents have worked together to update bus route pick-up and drop-off locations to better serve families. As a result, we would like to provide you with clarification on two aspects of bus route procedures.
1. Parents of students in the summer program at West Street School can let district staff know in writing that their child is allowed to get on and off the bus without a parent waiting at the bus stop. Please send a brief note to the program staff. Be sure to include the student’s name and your name on the note. You may also email communications@SouthbridgePublic.org. Students attending the summer program at Eastford Road School still need a parent present at pick-up and drop-off.
2. A ten-minute window of time before or after scheduled pick-up and drop-off may be necessary for normal disruptions in bus route timing. For example, if your child is scheduled to be picked up at 8:10 a.m., we recommend that your child is ready at the bus stop by 8 a.m. or that they wait until 8:20 a.m. if the bus is running late.
We look forward to meeting you at the parent luncheon and information session Wednesday, July 3 between 11 a.m. and noon at West Street School!
